Schott Cuts Print Costs by an estimated €500,000 a year
This morning I came across an ad for HP’s ‘Printing Payback Guarantee‘ touting these figures. While nothing new in the world of consumer products (think the Warehouse’s cheesy kiwi spouting ‘and your money back guaranteed!’), this stood out to me as a fantastic example of online marketing that cuts out the crap and gets to the essence of what the customer wants: in this case, to save money.
HP’s printing products no doubt offer the ability to print 3 million pages per second, can integrate with all imaginable systems and probably feature touch screens on every available surface, but the mini-site focuses on the big picture: saving money.
The website is clear, animation is done to support the message, not just impress the visitor and it includes a simple way to ‘Share this’ on Twitter / Facebook etc etc.
Now, how can this apply to your B2B business? Is there something that you can guarantee and make it so visitors would ‘be crazy NOT to keep looking on the website and eventually make an enquiry’.

Winning a Business Excellence Award has always been part of the plan for fledgling web and online marketing business WebSpring.
The ambition was realised at the Westpac Waikato Business Excellence Awards, where the company won the WEL Networks Best Emerging Business Award and achieved Finalist in the Innovation category.
General Manager Elisabeth Soffe said her team is delighted with the accolade, proving they are on the right track with their goal to achieve “number one status” in their field.
“Our business is only 13 months old, we started planning our business awards entry eight months ago. In a market with very little barrier to entry, this award has differentiated us from our competitors,” Elisabeth said.
The WebSpring team includes online marketing expertise from traditional marketing methods to search engine rankings, web design and email marketing.
Elisabeth and fellow Directors founded the company with the Baldridge theory in mind, the same core values used by judges of the business excellence awards.
“It shows that the Baldridge theory works. It was an honour to be assessed by high calibre and well respected business professionals – very valuable to our growth,” she said.
“We have a real passion in our expertise. We don’t just say it, we live it and love it. We also achieve great results for our customers’ businesses. Some have grown beyond their expectations through solely online marketing.”
